Experience
Aerial Strap
(Reserve | 1994-1995; 2000-2023)

The artist takes the stage with ease, using his bonds to release his heart and fly into the heavens.

Aerial straps was first performed by Philippe Chartrand, who was a catcher in the show’s original flying trapeze act. A Cirque veteran, Chartrand was offered to create an additional backup act for the show in the event than any act was ever out during a performance — leading to the creation of the show's first solo aerial straps act. While it's unknown how often he performed his act or how many different acts he covered for during the show’s first two years, it's known that he at least covered for the Main-à-Main act and therefore performed to the track "Ulysse".

The act left along with Chartrand in 1995 and was not performed again until it was revived by Sébastien Fortier in 2000, this time exclusively as a backup for Aerial Cube. With the retirement of Aerial Cube in 2016, the act became a backup for Duo Aerial Straps until the Aerial Straps Solo act itself was retired in lieu of a new backup Aerial Silks act in 2023.
