Cirque du Soleil wanted Saltimbanco to be a show about the future of the city in a more positive light, and they succeeded! Saltimbanco was so successful, Cirque used it as it's work-horse, it's go-to show to break open new markets, testing the waters for the company's future endeavors there. And rightfully so: it's positive outlook on urbanity struck a chord with all who experienced it. Although Saltimbanco is no longer performed live, it had a rich and varied history: twice touring in a Grand Chapiteau (having closed once, to be resurrected to further open up the Asia-Pacific market, then becoming the first Cirque show to tour South America), and then getting a third rebirth as Cirque's first arena-converted show, visiting cities and areas that Cirque du Soleil had previously unable to visit with a huge big top.
